Origami box tutorial

boxes

Lately I have have had people ask me to post a tutorial on my wallpaper origami boxes so here it is. My 5 year old daughter taped it for me so excuse the shaky, and sometimes off to one side filming.
I have another tutorial on how to make a pretty window in your origami box lid, go here to see it.

You know how when you hear your own voice on video you sound so weird? Well I've noticed how low my voice sounds, and also how much I sound like my sisters and mom. Sounding like my family isn't bad at all, in fact it makes me happy. (Hi mom, hi 4 sisters, love & miss you guys!XoxOXOXOOooxoxo.)
So let me know what you think! Do you have any questions? Did it make sense?

Also, I thought it would be fun to have you all share the pretty origami boxes you make! Just email me an image and I might feature your pretty package in a blog post sometime! :)

You made that look so easy! I think I'm going to try it. The video was good, easy to follow, but it kept pausing every few seconds-maybe a problem on my end...?

Kelsey- I have loaded and reloaded the video a few times now so I hope it is loading better for all of you. :) I was doing fine for me.

Yvie- I love that you want to participate in the contest. I hope you do send photos! I won't be sending the prize package out of the country but we would still love to see what you create! If it is anything like your cakes I'm sure it will be lovely!

Beautiful! I remember making little teeny ones like this out of lined paper when I was in elementary school. Such a neat idea to use wall paper for gifts and such. Thank you so much for sharing this. I love the wallpaper you used - yellow is one of my favorite colors. Where did you get this large striped one?

Susan,
All these awesome wall papers are from my local thrift store can you believe it? The yellow stripped one is my fave! :)

So much fun I found that going to YouTube to watch make the video not be glitchy or pause and load.
I think I will try this with wrapping paper I know it isn't as strong so maybe a double layer or a heavier kind.

I did it! That was fun. I get better at folding the paper with each box. I need to find a way to dress up my boxes to make them look extra cute. xo xo

What a clever idea to make them out of wallpaper so that you can make bigger boxes! I'd always made them out of card-stock. I like to make my lids slightly shorter, so that they're easier to put on and off. Really beautiful, thanks for sharing.

So I suppose I could try it out and see, but have you ever made this with like scrapbook paper? I don't happen to have any amazing wallpaper at my house on hand, but I have some paper... I saw that someone said they used cardstock...same thing I suppose? How big of a box would that make?

Fantastic! Thank you so much for posting this! I recently found some amazing books of wallpaper samples at a thrift store ($1 each!). I saw them ... loved the designs ... and had no idea what I would do with them ... but bought them anyhow! So glad I did and so glad I found this great tutorial! If I make these I will post on my blog and include a link to your tutorial!

Oh this tutorial is one of the best!! Would you tell me exactly what the dimension or the length and width of the square of wallpaper? I didn't make it out in the video.

Looks like I arrived too late for the party. The video is no longer available.
